What Does Barometer Claim?
Barometer calls itself “an AI contextual brand suitability platform.” Its release says advertisers using Amazon Ads DVA+ can now buy podcasts at the episode level rather than from show inclusion lists, with pre-bid suitability checks and third-party verification of each episode. At launch it says it supports all on-demand audio inventory in DVA+, including Amazon-owned audio and partners such as SiriusXM, Spotify and iHeartMedia, with podcast audio as the initial focus, and it plans to expand to other content, including video, in 2026 (Barometer release). The release quotes Lauren Russo, EVP and managing partner for innovation and performance audio at Horizon Media: “Podcasts let brands show up in moments when listeners are highly engaged, but programmatic scale has often been limited by a lack of reliable brand-suitability controls,” with the integration “making it easier to scale with confidence.”
What Do the Case Studies Say?
Barometer reports two. A financial services brand moved from a show inclusion list to episode-level targeting and grew its show count by “over 140%,” reaching 2,000 shows. An advertiser that had avoided programmatic podcast buying over suitability concerns ran across 2,700 shows and, Barometer says, reached “over 5MM new households” with “over 85% incremental reach” compared with streaming video and streaming audio (Barometer release).

Vendor-reported case studies, not independent results; they say nothing about outcomes for any other advertiser or about ad performance.

What Is DVA+?
Amazon says DVA+ “introduces a simplified way to create Display, Video, and Audio campaigns.” An advertiser picks an objective, chooses products or a brand URL, reviews AI-generated creatives and sets a budget, with advanced settings for manual control of targeting, deals and bidding. During the closed beta, campaigns are created through Amazon Ads Agent and billed by invoice; API availability is targeted for Q1 2027. Amazon says audio format availability expands after launch in Q4 2026 (Amazon Ads).

What Could It Mean for Shows and Hosts?
If advertisers screen by episode, an episode’s content may affect whether ads are bought against it, separately from the show’s overall reputation. Neither source says what Barometer rates or how a show can see or contest a rating, and we cannot say what it does to any show’s revenue. Our recommendation, not a platform rule: ask any ad partner how episodes are rated and whether hosts can review ratings. See what dynamic ad insertion is, which podcasts work for B2B advertisers and podcast ad loudness rules.
What This Means for Anyone Buying a Placement
Brand suitability tools govern paid ads. A guest appearance is editorial and is not bought through a bidding system. If a sponsor or vendor claims to place you “safely,” ask whether it is an ad buy and whether it is disclosed as one. No source we read promises results.
Methodology and Limitations
Four limits apply. First, the Barometer claims and case studies come from its own release. Second, we read the release as published by Podnews, not on Barometer’s site. Third, Amazon’s page does not mention Barometer, so the integration is confirmed only by Barometer. Fourth, we tested neither product.
Conclusion
Episode-level suitability for podcasts is a vendor-announced feature inside a product that is still in beta. It is worth watching for anyone who sells or buys podcast ads, and it does not touch editorial guest bookings.
