What Are the Best Alternatives to Mention in 2026?
The five alternatives we could check on the vendors’ own pages are Agorapulse Listening, Brand24, Awario, Determ and Talkwalker Alerts. Brand monitoring means tracking where a company, product or person is named online, usually with keyword alerts. Mention’s own successor is Agorapulse Listening; the other four cover self-serve paid tools and a free alert service.
| Tool | Published price | Limits on the page | Trial or free option | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mention | Not sold standalone since July 1, 2026; pricing page’s “Starting at” field is blank | Legacy Company plan: unlimited users, 5 alerts, 50,000 mentions a month | Existing customers only | Mention Help Center |
| Agorapulse Listening | Not published; sold through sales as an add-on or standalone package | Up to 24 months of historical data | Agorapulse plans: 30 days, no card | Agorapulse |
| Brand24 | $199 / $299 / $399 / $599 a month billed annually; Enterprise from $1,499 | 3 to 25 keywords; 2K to 100K mentions a month | 14 days, no card; 30-day money-back guarantee | Brand24 |
| Awario | $29 / $89 / $249 a month billed annually | 3 to 100 topics; 30,000 to 1,000,000 new mentions a month | Free Starter-plan trial, no card | Awario |
| Determ | $279 / $467 a month with a yearly commitment; Custom by quote | 5 or 10 topics; 5,000 or 10,000 mentions; unlimited users | 5 days, no card; 14 days after a demo | Determ |
| Talkwalker Alerts | Free | News, blogs, forums and X; 22 languages | Free | Talkwalker |

Can You Still Buy Mention?
No, not as a standalone product. Mention’s “Mention Plans Explained” help article says: “As of July 1, 2026, Mention is no longer sold as a standalone product. If you are an existing Mention customer, you can retain access to your current plan.” It describes Solo, Pro, Pro Plus, Company and Company Lite as legacy self-serve plans that “are no longer available for purchase” (Mention Help Center).
Mention’s public pricing page has not caught up. It still shows a single “Company” plan with “Starting at” and a currency sign but no figure; the price field is empty in the page’s own code, not just slow to load, and its “Get a demo” button goes to an Agorapulse form (Mention pricing). We did not use third-party price listings, so this guide states no Mention price. Mention’s home page says “Agorapulse has acquired Mention,” and Agorapulse’s CEO announced the acquisition on May 22, 2025 (Mention; Agorapulse).
What Happened to Mention’s Publish and Respond Features?
They were retired on January 30, 2026. A Mention help article dated July 1, 2026 says: “we retired our social publishing and engagement features (Publish & Respond) on January 30, 2026,” and that since then users “can no longer create, schedule, or publish posts from Mention” or reply to conversations, while “monitoring, alerts, Feed, and Analytics continue to work normally” (Mention Help Center).
Two of Mention’s public pages are out of date on this point. The pricing FAQ still says Mention has “decided to progressively deprecate” the features, and the home page still lists “Publish and respond on major social networks” (Mention pricing; Mention). We follow the help center, which is dated and specific. The same help center adds an earlier step: as of June 16, 2025, Mention stopped giving “access to Publish or Respond for new or inactive users.”
What Does Agorapulse Listening Offer Mention Users?
Agorapulse Listening is the product Mention now points buyers to. The help center describes tracking of “brand mentions and keywords across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, Reddit, TikTok, News, Forums, and the Web,” “Up to 24 months of historical data,” AI “Search Screening” that removes off-topic results, share of voice and exports to CSV, JSON or PDF. It is “available as an add-on to existing Advanced or Tailored Agorapulse plans, or as a standalone package,” and “All purchases are handled through our sales team” (Mention Help Center).
Agorapulse’s pricing page lists Standard ($79 per user a month billed annually, $99 monthly), Professional ($119 and $149) and Advanced ($149 and $199), each with 10 social profiles, plus a Custom tier; “Advanced Listening” appears only as an add-on behind “Book a demo,” with no price. Its paid plans offer 30 days free with no credit card (Agorapulse pricing). Limit: the listening price is not published, so you need a quote.
What Do the Mention Alternatives Cost?
The three self-serve alternatives with published prices run from $29 to $467 a month on annual or yearly-commitment billing. Agorapulse Listening is sold through sales and Talkwalker Alerts is free.
US dollars per month
Source: Determ, “Pricing”; Brand24, “Prices”; Awario, “Pricing”. Read October 21, 2026.
Determ’s yearly prices are “billed monthly, yearly commitment” and shown alongside euros; Brand24’s and Awario’s are billed annually. Each vendor meters a different unit (topics, keywords, new mentions a month), so the plans are not equivalent. Mention is not charted because its price field is empty and it is no longer sold standalone; Agorapulse Listening is sold through sales with no published price, and Talkwalker Alerts is free.
The chart shows a 16-fold spread between Awario Starter and Determ Command. Our recommendation, not a vendor rule: count how many separate brands, products and competitors you need to track before comparing, because Awario and Determ meter topics, Brand24 meters keywords, and all three cap monthly mentions differently.
Is Brand24 a Good Mention Alternative?
Brand24 is the closest direct rival with published plans, and its entry price is $199 a month billed annually. Individual includes 3 keywords and 2K mentions a month, Team $299 (7 keywords, 10K), Pro $399 (12 keywords, 40K) and Business $599 (25 keywords, 100K); billed monthly they are $249, $349, $499 and $699, and Enterprise starts “from $1499” a month billed annually (Brand24 pricing).
The page offers a 14-day free trial with “No credit card required” and a 30-day money-back guarantee “excluding custom plans and deals negotiated with our sales team.” To pay annually, it says, “simply start a free 14-day trial and then contact us.” See alternatives to Brand24 for the rest of that field.
Is Awario or Determ a Better Fit Than Mention?
Awario is the cheapest paid option here and Determ the one built for larger teams. Awario lists Starter ($29 a month billed annually, $49 monthly), Pro ($89 or $149) and Enterprise ($249 or $399), with 3, 15 and 100 topics, unlimited keywords per topic and 30,000, 300,000 or 1,000,000 new mentions a month; its trial “grants you free access to the Starter plan,” and “You don’t need a credit card to sign up for a free trial” (Awario pricing).
Determ lists Expand (5 topics, 5,000 mentions; $279 a month with a yearly commitment or $335 monthly) and Command (10 topics, 10,000 mentions; $467 or $558), both with unlimited users, a “5-day free trial” with no card and an “extended 14 day trial” after a demo. By default it gives “up to three months of past data,” and its archive dates “back to 2020” (Determ pricing). Neither page claims a source count we could check.
Is There a Free Mention Alternative?
Yes: Talkwalker Alerts is free, and it does not require a Google account. It sends new mentions from news, blogs, forums and X by email, RSS or Slack, in 22 languages, with Boolean operators (Talkwalker Alerts). Its page says up to 5 years of historical data, advanced sentiment analysis and podcast and review-site coverage belong to the paid Talkwalker product.
Limits: it is an alert feed, not a dashboard, and the page warns that choosing “As it happens” with “All results” can flood an inbox. For setup, see how to monitor brand mentions with Google Alerts and Google Alerts vs Talkwalker Alerts; for the paid platform behind it, see Talkwalker alternatives.
Should Existing Mention Customers Switch?
Not necessarily: an existing plan keeps working, but it is frozen. Mention says current customers “can retain access to your current plan,” and the legacy Company plan includes unlimited users, 5 alerts, 50,000 mentions a month, Boolean alerts, 100 reports and scheduled reporting, with historical data (up to 2 years) and the API as paid add-ons; it is “yearly billing only” (Mention Help Center).
- Stay if: your Boolean queries (up to 2,000 characters on Advanced Alerts, per the pricing FAQ) and alert history work, and you do not need publishing.
- Move to Agorapulse Listening if: you also need publishing and engagement, which Mention retired.
- Move to Brand24, Awario or Determ if: you want a published price and a plan you can change without a sales call.
- Before renewal: ask Agorapulse in writing whether your legacy plan will be renewed on the same terms; the help center does not say.
Final Verdict: Mention or an Alternative?
New buyers cannot choose Mention, so the real choice is Agorapulse Listening (by quote, with publishing alongside) or a self-serve tool with a published price. For most small teams, try Awario or Brand24 on the same keywords for a week; for teams with many users, look at Determ; for zero budget, Talkwalker Alerts.

Sources and Methodology
This guide is built from each vendor’s own public pages and two Mention help-center articles, read October 21, 2026. Where Mention’s marketing pages and its help center disagree, we follow the help center, which is dated and more specific, and say so. Mention’s pricing page was checked in its page source: the price field is empty. We did not use third-party price listings. Agorapulse’s annual and monthly figures are read from its pricing toggle and its “Save $240/year”-style labels. House advice is labeled as such. We did not test any tool.
