Brand24 vs Mention: Which Is Better for Brand Monitoring in 2026?

For a small team that wants to start monitoring this week at a known price, Brand24 is the better choice: it publishes five plans from $199 a month billed annually, with a 14-day free trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Mention, now owned by Agorapulse, sells a single Company plan whose price did not display on its pricing page when we checked, and its main call to action is a demo. Pick Brand24 for transparency and self-serve setup, Mention if you already use Agorapulse or need 75-plus review sites in one contract.

Brand24 vs Mention at a Glance

Both products search the web and social platforms for keywords such as a company or product name and return the results, called mentions, with sentiment and reach estimates. They differ most in how they are sold. “Winner” is marked only where published pages show a real difference. Prices are in U.S. dollars and were checked on October 10, 2026.

What Is Brand24?

Brand24 is a self-serve media monitoring and social listening tool that tracks keywords across social networks, news, blogs, forums, podcasts and review sites, then scores the results for sentiment, reach and reputation.

Its features page lists sentiment analysis, a Reputation Score, a Presence Score, AI Insights, AI topic and emotion analysis, an anomaly detector and “Storm Alerts” for sudden changes in volume. Reports can be sent by email or exported to Excel and PowerPoint, and mentions can be pushed to Slack. The pricing page lists 16 source types, from Facebook, Instagram and X to Reddit, LinkedIn, TikTok, newsletters and podcasts, but does not say which sources each plan covers.

What Is Mention?

Mention is a social listening and media monitoring tool, now part of Agorapulse, that tracks alerts across social platforms, news, blogs, forums and review sites and reports sentiment and share of voice.

Agorapulse's chief executive wrote on May 22, 2025: “As CEO of Agorapulse, I'm excited to announce our acquisition of Mention, a pioneer in social listening technology” (Agorapulse blog). Mention's pricing page now carries a “Mention by Agorapulse” logo, routes demo requests to an Agorapulse address, and says its Publish and Respond features are being deprecated in favour of Agorapulse, “which is now our official solution for publishing and responding needs”. Buyers should therefore treat Mention as a listening product, not a social media management suite.

Brand24 vs Mention: Pricing

Only Brand24 shows a number. Its pricing page lists Individual at $249, Team at $349, Pro at $499 and Business at $699 a month on monthly billing, falling to $199, $299, $399 and $599 a month on annual billing, which it advertises as “Up to 3 months free”. Enterprise starts at $1,499 a month billed annually. The page says Brand24 never charges more than the plan price; if volume exceeds the plan, it contacts the customer about an upgrade.

Mention's pricing page shows one plan, Company, with the text “Starting at $” and an empty price field, both in a reader view and in the raw page source we downloaded. It does say annual billing gives “2 months free” and “Save 360$”, which implies a published list price exists somewhere, but we could not read it. Agorapulse's own pricing page lists an “Advanced Listening” add-on with no price and a “Book a demo” button. Treat Mention as quote-based.

Brand24 annual billing lowers the four self-serve plans to $199, $299, $399 and $599 a month. Mention's bar is empty because no price was shown, not because the plan is free.

We did not request a quote from Mention and do not repeat third-party estimates of its price. Brand24 also has extras: its pricing page says API access is “Available at an additional fee $149,” without stating the billing period, and its comparison table marks Smart Context Search (Pro and up) and the AI Visibility module (all plans) as add-ons, without prices.

Plan Limits That Matter

Brand24 rations three things by tier: the number of keywords tracked, the number of mentions collected each month, and how often results refresh. Individual allows 3 keywords, 2,000 mentions and one user, updated every 12 hours. Team allows 7 keywords, 10,000 mentions, unlimited users and hourly updates. Pro allows 12 keywords and 40,000 mentions, and Business 25 keywords and 100,000 mentions, both in real time. AI Insights start on Pro (two projects) and Business (five).

Enterprise limits are custom. Mention publishes no equivalent mention or alert limits for its Company plan, so it cannot be charted.

Mention's page publishes no numeric limits at all. Its FAQ explains the unit it counts: an alert is a keyword or set of keywords, and a mention is a result found for it. It also says that “Only our Advanced Alert has the ability to build custom Boolean Queries, using up to 2,000 characters,” while the Standard Alert uses a simpler query builder. Ask Mention in writing how many alerts, mentions and users the Company plan includes before you sign.

Sources and Coverage

The two lists overlap heavily. Brand24 names Facebook, Instagram, X, news, blogs, Reddit, LinkedIn, Medium, Quora, YouTube, TikTok, reviews, Twitch, newsletters and podcasts. Mention names Facebook, Instagram, X, Reddit, TikTok, Pinterest and YouTube, plus news, blogs and forums, and “75+ review sites including Google, Facebook, Trustpilot, Amazon, and Glassdoor”. Mention's features menu also claims “1 billion sources”; neither vendor's coverage claim is independently verified, and access to platforms such as Reddit and X depends on the platforms' own data terms. Our report on whether you can still monitor Reddit for mentions explains why that matters.

If you mainly need to catch news coverage of a press placement, free tools may cover much of it. Compare Google Alerts vs Talkwalker Alerts and our guide to monitoring brand mentions with Google Alerts before paying for social listening.

Analytics and Reporting

Both tools offer sentiment analysis and competitor comparison. Brand24 adds composite scores (Reputation and Presence), AI-generated insights, topic and emotion analysis, and anomaly detection. Mention lists sentiment and trend identification, competitor benchmarking, custom reporting and dashboards, share of voice, influence scoring and white-label reporting. Share of voice is the metric many PR reports ask for; see what share of voice is for how it is calculated and where vendor versions differ.

Neither tool can tell you whether coverage changed buying behaviour. Mention counts are a volume measure; treat them as one input, as described in how a company should measure whether placement worked.

Where Brand24 Wins

  • Published pricing for five plans, with monthly and annual options.
  • Published limits for keywords, mentions, users and refresh rate.
  • Low-risk start: 14-day free trial with no card, then a 30-day money-back guarantee excluding custom plans.
  • No overage charges, according to its pricing FAQ.
  • Podcasts and newsletters named as sources.

Where Mention Wins

  • Review-site coverage: “75+ review sites” named, including Trustpilot, Amazon and Glassdoor.
  • Agorapulse integration: the natural choice if your team already publishes through Agorapulse.
  • Long Boolean queries: up to 2,000 characters on the Advanced Alert.
  • Service included: the Company plan lists a dedicated account manager and custom onboarding.
  • White-label reporting, useful to agencies.

Who Should Choose Brand24?

Choose Brand24 if: you need to monitor a handful of brand and product names, want to know the cost before talking to sales, and value a trial and refund window.

Avoid it if: you need dozens of keywords on a mid-priced plan, or contractually guaranteed source coverage.

Best for: startups, small in-house teams and boutique agencies.

Starting price: $199/month billed annually, $249 billed monthly (checked October 10, 2026).

Primary strength: transparent tiers and fast setup.

Main limitation: tight keyword caps on the lower plans, and API access and some AI modules cost extra.

Verdict: the stronger choice for most small teams.

Who Should Choose Mention?

Choose Mention if: you use Agorapulse for publishing, need review monitoring across many sites, or want an account manager and onboarding bundled in.

Avoid it if: you need a price before a demo, or rely on Mention's old Publish and Respond features.

Best for: Agorapulse customers and agencies that report on reviews and social conversation together.

Starting price: not displayed on the pricing page.

Primary strength: breadth of review sources and a parent social-media suite.

Main limitation: no published price or limits, and historical data and API access are add-ons.

Verdict: the stronger choice inside an Agorapulse workflow.

Final Verdict: Brand24 or Mention?

For most small teams, Brand24 is the better buy in October 2026: it publishes prices from $199 a month billed annually, states exactly how many keywords and mentions each plan includes, and offers a trial and a refund window. Mention is the better choice for organisations already using Agorapulse, or for those that care most about review-site monitoring, provided they are comfortable getting a quote first and confirming limits in writing. Both tools report what they find; neither can promise coverage of every platform, and both depend on third-party data access that can change.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Brand24 cost in 2026?

Brand24 lists Individual at $199, Team at $299, Pro at $399 and Business at $599 a month billed annually, or $249, $349, $499 and $699 billed monthly. Enterprise starts at $1,499 a month billed annually. Pricing checked October 10, 2026.

How much does Mention cost?

Mention's pricing page shows one Company plan with “Starting at $” and no figure, and its button asks you to request a demo. It says yearly billing gives two months free. Treat it as quote-based and ask for limits in writing.

Who owns Mention?

Agorapulse. Its chief executive announced the acquisition on May 22, 2025, and Mention's site now uses a Mention by Agorapulse logo and points users to Agorapulse for publishing and responding.

Does Brand24 have a free trial?

Yes. Its pricing FAQ says the first 14 days are free and no credit card is required. After that, a 30-day money-back guarantee applies, excluding custom plans and negotiated deals.

Which tool tracks more keywords?

Brand24 publishes its caps: 3, 7, 12 and 25 keywords on its four self-serve plans, with custom limits on Enterprise. Mention does not publish an alert limit for its Company plan, so a direct comparison is not possible from public pages.

Can either tool monitor review sites?

Both list reviews as a source. Mention is more specific, naming 75-plus review sites including Google, Trustpilot, Amazon and Glassdoor. Brand24 lists reviews as one of 16 source types without naming sites.

Is Brand24 or Mention better for PR coverage tracking?

Both find online news and blog mentions. For broadcast, print and journalist databases, a PR suite is a better fit. For simple news alerts, free tools such as Google Alerts may be enough to start.

How We Compared Brand24 and Mention

Criteria: published pricing, plan limits, sources, analytics, trial and refund terms, ownership and product direction. When: all vendor pages were read on October 10, 2026 without signing in. Mention's pricing page was read both through a reader tool and as raw HTML; its price fields were empty in both.

Limitations: we did not buy, trial or test either product, run the same keyword through both, or request quotes. Coverage figures, such as Mention's “1 billion sources”, are vendor claims. Brand24's pricing page marks the AI Visibility module as an add-on in its comparison table, including on Enterprise, and does not price its add-ons or say whether the $149 API fee is monthly. Prices and features change; this describes public pages as of October 10, 2026.
