Best Alternatives to Talkwalker (Lumen) in 2026: 5 Social Listening Platforms Compared by Price, Plans and Fit

As of October 2026, the main alternatives to Talkwalker, now sold as Lumen by Talkwalker by custom quote, are Brandwatch, Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Emplifi and Meltwater; only Hootsuite and Sprout Social publish per-user prices. Sprout starts at $79 a seat a month and Hootsuite at $99 a user, both billed annually, but on both deeper listening is an add-on or tied to a higher plan. Talkwalker itself is now part of Hootsuite, so one “alternative” is also its owner. The choice is mostly between a listening-first platform and a social management suite that adds listening, and this guide names where Talkwalker is still the better choice.

  • Talkwalker’s site says “Talkwalker is now Lumen by Talkwalker,” with “Same data, same reports, same workflows and integrations,” and its About page says “Talkwalker is now a part of Hootsuite” (Talkwalker; Talkwalker About).
  • Talkwalker’s pricing page lists Core, Analyze and Business plans under “Pick your plan to get a custom quote,” says every plan comes with “Unlimited users,” and claims 150 million data sources, 30+ social platforms and 187 languages (Talkwalker pricing).
  • Hootsuite’s FAQ says “Paid plans start at $99 for a Standard plan, $199 for a Professional plan, and range up to $399 for an Advanced plan,” per user a month billed annually; Standard includes social listening and Enterprise adds “advanced listening powered by Lumen” (Hootsuite plans).
  • Sprout Social lists Essentials at $79, Standard $199, Professional $299 and Advanced $399 per seat a month on annual billing, and says “Premium Analytics and Listening are each available as individual add-ons to the Standard plan and up” (Sprout Social pricing).
  • Brandwatch and Meltwater sell by quote; Emplifi lists Social Marketing “Starting at” $1,249 a month with unlimited users and sells listening features as add-ons (Brandwatch plans; Meltwater pricing; Emplifi pricing).

What Are the Best Alternatives to Talkwalker in 2026?

The five alternatives we could check on the vendors’ own pages are Brandwatch, Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Emplifi and Meltwater. Social listening means tracking public conversations about a brand, topic or competitor across social networks and the web. Talkwalker’s listening product is now branded Lumen by Talkwalker, and Talkwalker is part of Hootsuite, so for one pick the line between “alternative” and “sibling” is thin.

What Is Talkwalker, and What Does It Cost?

Talkwalker is a social listening and media monitoring platform that sells three plans by custom quote and publishes no prices. Its home page describes social listening, media monitoring and social benchmarking, says it is “The first choice of over 2,500 organizations” and monitors “millions of conversations across social, digital, and AI channels,” and says it was renamed Lumen by Talkwalker “as we bring Hootsuite and Talkwalker closer together” (Talkwalker).

The pricing page asks visitors to “Pick your plan to get a custom quote.” Core covers “Industry-leading social listening and media monitoring,” topic and channel analytics, dashboards, alerts, an AI Agent and “LLM Insights” for monitoring “how AI assistants talk about your brand.” Analyze adds “2x non-sampled results volume” and 25 more topics, filters and channels; Business adds “6x non-sampled results volume,” more topics and “Additional historical data.” Every plan comes with “Unlimited users,” professional onboarding and regular strategy reviews (Talkwalker pricing).

Who Owns Talkwalker Now?

Hootsuite owns Talkwalker. Talkwalker’s About page says “Talkwalker is now a part of Hootsuite,” and the privacy and cookie links on its home page point to Hootsuite’s legal pages (Talkwalker About).

Hootsuite announced on April 8, 2024 that it was “set to acquire Talkwalker,” and its press release said “The acquisition is expected to close in the second quarter of 2024, subject to customary closing conditions” (Hootsuite press release). We did not find a dated closing announcement, so we do not give a closing date. In practice, Hootsuite now sells Talkwalker’s technology inside its own Enterprise plan as “advanced listening powered by Lumen.”

What Do Talkwalker and Its Alternatives Cost?

Talkwalker, Brandwatch and Meltwater publish no prices, while Hootsuite and Sprout Social publish per-user plan prices and Emplifi a flat starting price. The per-user prices are the only ones that can be lined up directly.

Prices are per user or seat, so a five-person team pays five times the figure. Sprout’s Listening is an unpriced add-on from Standard up; Hootsuite’s self-serve plans include basic listening, and “advanced listening powered by Lumen” is in Enterprise, which has no published price. Talkwalker, Brandwatch and Meltwater publish no prices; Emplifi’s $1,249 “starting at” price is a flat monthly figure with unlimited users, so it is not charted per seat.

The chart shows the two suites’ ladders side by side: Hootsuite is cheaper at the Standard and Professional tiers, and both reach $399 at Advanced. Our recommendation, not a vendor rule: price a pilot at your real user count, and ask each vendor in writing what listening costs on top of the base plan, because Talkwalker and Emplifi do not charge per user at all.

How Do Hootsuite and Sprout Social Compare With Talkwalker?

Both are social management suites with listening layered on, and both publish per-user prices. Hootsuite’s FAQ says Standard includes “social listening” among its essentials, Professional adds the ability to “Search up to 30 days of conversations with Quick Search” and “AI-powered forecasting to anticipate trends up to 90 days ahead,” and Enterprise adds “13 months of historical data, advanced data sources, alerts, scheduled reports, brand review monitoring, and advanced listening powered by Lumen” (Hootsuite plans). The page offers a 14-day trial without a credit card and says plans “are sold per user (or ‘seat’).”

Sprout Social lists five tiers and a 30-day trial with “No credit card required.” Its Standard plan includes “Keyword and location monitoring,” but it says “Premium Analytics and Listening are each available as individual add-ons to the Standard plan and up,” and the add-on price is not shown (Sprout Social pricing). Limit for both: their pages state no source counts, so coverage against Talkwalker’s claimed 150 million sources is unknown.

Is Brandwatch a Better Talkwalker Alternative for Research?

Brandwatch is the closest like-for-like rival for analyst-style listening. Its plans page says Consumer Intelligence is for researchers and analysts who want to “Search the world’s largest archive of consumer opinion for market insights” with customizable dashboards, AI analysis and automated alerts; it also sells Social Media Management (formerly the Falcon suite), Influencer Marketing with “an influencer database of over 30m creators” and Search Intelligence (Brandwatch plans).

The plans page says only that “standard to enterprise plans” exist for each solution and offers a free demo. Brandwatch belongs to Cision: its own sign-up forms say your details are shared “with our parent company Cision,” and Cision’s home page lists Brandwatch as its “Consumer Intelligence & Social Media Management suite” (Brandwatch; Cision). For a guide centered on Brandwatch, see our Brandwatch alternatives comparison.

What Do Emplifi and Meltwater Offer?

Emplifi is an enterprise social suite that lists starting prices and does not charge per seat; Meltwater is a media-and-social suite that lists no prices. Emplifi’s pricing page says “Our pricing isn’t based on how many team members you have. All tiers include unlimited user seats and unlimited owned profiles,” lists Social Marketing Essential and Advanced “Starting at” $1,249 and $2,499 a month, and shows listening features such as “Crisis & AI Spike Alerts,” Reddit listening and “Listening Reporting” as add-ons without prices (Emplifi pricing).

Meltwater lists Social listening among the capabilities on all four plans (Starter, Pro, Enterprise, Agency), uses tailored pricing, and says “most partnerships are structured on annual agreements, with a minimum contract length of 12 months” (Meltwater pricing). Its home page claims “1.3+ Billion Documents Ingested Daily” and 240+ languages supported (Meltwater). It suits a PR team that wants news and social in one contract; see alternatives to Meltwater.

Where Does Talkwalker Still Win?

Talkwalker is the specialist: listening is its main product, not an add-on, and it publishes the most specific coverage claims of the six. Its pricing page claims 150 million data sources, 30+ social platforms, 187 languages and 196 countries, and its plans are priced by results volume and topics rather than by seat (Talkwalker pricing).

  • No seat arithmetic: every Lumen plan includes unlimited users, while Hootsuite and Sprout price per user.
  • Enterprise rollouts: its home page cites Orange using social listening “across 1,300 employees in 28 countries.”
  • Free on-ramp: Talkwalker Alerts is free; the Alerts page says up to 5 years of historical data, advanced sentiment and podcast and review-site coverage come with the paid product (Talkwalker Alerts).
  • Where it loses: no published price and no self-serve trial, and teams that mainly publish and engage get more from Hootsuite or Sprout.

Who Should Choose Talkwalker, and Who Should Choose an Alternative?

Choose Talkwalker for a dedicated listening or research team; choose Hootsuite or Sprout Social if publishing and engagement come first and listening is secondary.

Final Verdict: Talkwalker or an Alternative?

Talkwalker for listening depth and large teams, Hootsuite or Sprout Social for publishing-led teams that can live with per-seat pricing. Because Talkwalker, Brandwatch and Meltwater publish no prices, get written quotes from at least two of them and compare the totals against the published Hootsuite and Sprout lists at your real headcount.

This guide is built from each vendor’s own public pages and one Hootsuite press release, read October 21, 2026. Figures are vendor claims as displayed and were not independently verified. Hootsuite’s plan prices are taken from its FAQ text, because the currency symbol on the price cards did not render in our download. The chart’s per-user framing and the “who should choose” table are our recommendations.
