What Are the Best Alternatives to Meltwater?
The five alternatives we could check on the vendors' own pages are Cision, Talkwalker, Brandwatch, Agility PR Solutions and Brand24. They fall into two groups: PR platforms that pair monitoring with journalist contacts and distribution (Cision, Agility PR Solutions), and social-listening and consumer-intelligence platforms that also watch news (Talkwalker, Brandwatch, Brand24). Meltwater sits across both, which is why the right choice depends on the job.
| Tool | What its own pages say it monitors | Published price | AI-answer tracking |
|---|---|---|---|
| Meltwater | Online, print, TV and radio, podcasts; social listening | None; “tailored pricing,” 12-month minimum on most agreements | “AI Visibility Tracking” on every plan |
| Cision | “print, online, TV, radio, social, podcast & magazine coverage” | None; “Request pricing” | “AI Visibility” listed as a CisionOne menu item; no detail on the page |
| Talkwalker (Lumen) | “millions of conversations across social, digital, and AI channels”; media monitoring | None; “Request a custom demo” | Mentions “AI channels”; no feature detail |
| Brandwatch | Consumer conversation; threats “across over 100m sources”; Media Intelligence & Insights | None; demo request | Search Intelligence to “improve your visibility across search and AI” |
| Agility PR Solutions | Online, print, broadcast, podcast, radio and social news; social listening | None; quote after a call, billed annually | Visibility Intelligence (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini) |
| Brand24 | “social, news, blogs, videos, forums, podcasts, reviews, and much more” | From $199 a month billed annually | “AI Visibility” module marked “Add-on” on every plan |
For the two most common head-to-head decisions, see Cision vs Meltwater and Meltwater vs Muck Rack; Muck Rack's own alternatives are in best alternatives to Muck Rack.
What Is Meltwater, and What Does It Include?
Meltwater is a media intelligence and social listening platform sold by quotation. Its pricing page lists four plans, Starter, Pro, Enterprise and Agency, and all four include Media Intelligence, Social listening, AI Visibility Tracking and Media Relations. Enterprise and Agency add Influencer Marketing, “API & MCP Integrations” and “Governance, workflows & permissions” (Meltwater pricing).
Its coverage claims are broad. The media monitoring page cites “200M+ online publications,” “400,000+ newspapers, magazines, and trade publications,” “20,000+ podcasts,” and TV and radio “across all 210 US media markets and thousands of TV and radio stations worldwide” (Meltwater). The home page adds “1.3+ Billion” documents ingested daily, “240+” languages and “27,000+ organizations” as customers (Meltwater). These are vendor claims we did not test, and the pages do not say which plans include broadcast and podcast sources, so ask in the demo.
The terms matter as much as the features. Meltwater “does not offer a self-serve free trial” but offers “a free, human-guided demo”; “most partnerships are structured on annual agreements, with a minimum contract length of 12 months”; and “there may be a one-time implementation or onboarding charge, which will be clearly outlined in your proposal” (Meltwater pricing).
What Do Meltwater Alternatives Cost?
Only Brand24 publishes a price ladder; the other four, like Meltwater, quote privately. Brand24's Individual plan is $199 a month billed annually or $249 billed monthly, with 3 keywords and “2K mentions / mo.” Team is $299 annually with 7 keywords and “10k mentions / mo”; Pro is $399 with 12 keywords and “40K mentions / mo”; Business is $599 with 25 keywords and “100K mentions / mo”; Enterprise is “from $ 1499 per month, billed annually,” with custom limits (Brand24).
$ per month, billed annually

Brand24 is the only vendor in this guide that publishes prices, so the chart shows its ladder alone. Monthly-billed prices are higher ($249, $349, $499, $699); Enterprise is a “from” price shown only as billed annually. Meltwater, Cision, Talkwalker, Brandwatch and Agility PR Solutions publish no prices on the pages we read.
The chart shows a five-step ladder from $199 to $1,499 a month for the one vendor that prints its prices. For the rest, any figure on a comparison site is not one the vendor has published, and we do not repeat such figures. Our recommendation, not a vendor rule: when comparing a quote-based platform with Brand24, ask for the all-in annual price, including onboarding, seats and add-ons, and set it against Brand24's annual price at the mention volume you expect.
| Vendor | How it prices | Trial or demo | Contract terms stated |
|---|---|---|---|
| Meltwater | “tailored pricing” | Human-guided demo; no self-serve trial | Most agreements annual, 12-month minimum |
| Cision | “Request pricing” | “Speak to an expert” | Not stated on the page we read |
| Talkwalker | No pricing on the home page | “Request a custom demo” | Not stated |
| Brandwatch | “standard to enterprise plans available for each of our solutions” | “Get a free demo” | Not stated |
| Agility PR Solutions | “detailed pricing based on your goals” after a call | “Speak to an Expert” | “Our standard billing cycle is annual” |
| Brand24 | Published, $199 to “from $ 1499” a month billed annually | “free 14-day trial,” “No credit card required” | Monthly or annual billing |
Is Cision a Good Alternative to Meltwater?
Cision is the closest like-for-like PR platform here. Its home page says to “Stay on top of print, online, TV, radio, social, podcast & magazine coverage, all in real time,” describes Journalist Outreach as a way to “Build better relationships with journalists, send media releases, and secure better coverage,” and lists “PR Distribution & Placement” under PR Newswire. It publishes no prices (Cision). The page gives no media-database size, so ask for one in the demo. Cision fits teams that want monitoring, outreach and wire distribution from one group; see PR Newswire vs Business Wire for the distribution side.
Is Talkwalker a Good Alternative to Meltwater?
Talkwalker suits teams whose center of gravity is social listening, with media monitoring alongside. Its home page says “Talkwalker is now Lumen by Talkwalker,” invites buyers to “Monitor millions of conversations across social, digital, and AI channels,” has a media monitoring section and offers a “Request a custom demo” rather than prices (Talkwalker). Hootsuite announced on April 8, 2024 that it was “set to acquire Talkwalker” (Hootsuite), and its privacy policy, last updated May 2, 2025, lists Talkwalker's services among those Hootsuite's affiliates provide (Hootsuite). Talkwalker's free alerts product is a separate tool; see Google Alerts vs Talkwalker Alerts.
Is Brandwatch a Good Alternative to Meltwater?
Brandwatch suits teams whose main job is understanding consumer conversation rather than placing stories. Its home page calls it “The most intelligent social suite,” lists Consumer Intelligence, Social Media Management, Influencer Marketing, Search Intelligence and Media Intelligence & Insights, and says it can “Monitor emerging threats across over 100m sources” (Brandwatch). Its plans page says only “standard to enterprise plans available for each of our solutions,” with prices by demo (Brandwatch plans). Brandwatch is part of Cision: its own press page carries the June 1, 2021 release in which “Cision announced that it is closing on its acquisition” of the company (Brandwatch). A buyer comparing Cision and Brandwatch quotes is comparing two parts of one group.
Is Agility PR Solutions a Good Alternative to Meltwater?
Agility PR Solutions is the alternative that most explicitly bundles monitoring, contacts, distribution and AI-answer tracking. Its home page says it can “Index 2B+ news items a year across online, print, broadcast, podcast, radio, social” and “Pinpoint the right journalists from a 1.1M+ contact database at 99.6% accuracy,” a vendor claim we did not test. It lists a Newswire with “Flat fee, unlimited words, broad pickup” and Visibility Intelligence to “See how ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini describe your brand” (Agility PR Solutions). Its plans page publishes no prices; it says “Our standard billing cycle is annual,” that solutions can be bought individually or as an all-in-one platform, and that training is included (Agility plans).
Is Brand24 a Good Alternative to Meltwater?
Brand24 is the option for small teams that need a price they can see and a trial they can start today. It says “Brand24 tracks all public sources, including social, news, blogs, videos, forums, podcasts, reviews, and much more!” and cites “+25,000,000 online sources” (Brand24). Every plan includes AI Sentiment Analysis; AI Brand Assistant and AI Insights start at Pro. The comparison table marks the AI Visibility module “Add-on” on all five plans, though the Enterprise feature list names it without that label, so confirm before buying. The trial is “free 14-day,” with “No credit card required” (Brand24). Limits on keywords and mentions are the trade-off; see Brand24 vs Mention for a rival in the same price band.
Where Does Meltwater Still Win?
Meltwater is the better choice when one contract must cover media, broadcast, podcasts, social and AI-answer tracking across several teams, regions and languages. It publishes more specific coverage figures than any alternative here (210 US media markets, 400,000+ print titles, 20,000+ podcasts, 240+ languages), and its Enterprise and Agency plans list governance, permissions and API access. Against Brand24 it covers broadcast and print, which Brand24's source list does not mention. Against Talkwalker and Brandwatch it pairs listening with Media Relations on every plan. The cost is the usual one for quote-based platforms: no printed price, no self-serve trial and a 12-month minimum on most agreements.
How Do You Track What AI Says About Your Company?
Most of these vendors now sell some form of AI-answer tracking, but the feature is new and each describes it differently. Meltwater offers “AI Visibility Tracking” to “Understand how AI platforms portray your organization”; Agility PR Solutions names ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini; Brand24 sells an AI Visibility add-on; Cision lists “AI Visibility” in its menu. We did not test any of them and cannot say how complete their results are. For a manual method, see search and AI monitoring and whether Google AI Mode can monitor news about your company. Monitoring reports what appears; it does not cause a brand to be cited.
Final Verdict: Which Alternative Should You Choose?
Our recommendation, not a vendor rule: if price transparency matters most, start Brand24's trial and test it against your real keyword volume. If you need monitoring plus journalist contacts and distribution, get quotes from Cision and Agility PR Solutions. If consumer insight across social is the priority, ask Talkwalker and Brandwatch for demos. If you need one multi-team contract covering broadcast, print, podcasts, social and AI visibility, Meltwater remains a reasonable default. Ask every vendor for the same four things in writing: contract length, mention or document limits, which broadcast and podcast sources your plan includes, and how AI-answer tracking is measured.
How We Compared the Tools
Four limits apply. First, we read the vendors' home, product, plans and pricing pages on October 19, 2026, and every description is the vendor's own claim, untested. Second, absence of a price here means “not published on the pages we read,” not free or cheap. Third, coverage figures are counted differently by each vendor and are not comparable line for line. Fourth, features and plans change often; confirm in a demo or trial.

No. Meltwater's pricing page says it “uses tailored pricing rather than a one-size-fits-all list” and that most agreements have a 12-month minimum.

No. Meltwater says it “does not offer a self-serve free trial” and offers a human-guided demo instead. Brand24, by contrast, offers a free 14-day trial with no credit card required.
Which Meltwater alternative tracks ChatGPT answers?
Agility PR Solutions says its Visibility Intelligence shows how ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini describe a brand. Meltwater lists AI Visibility Tracking on every plan, and Brand24 sells an AI Visibility add-on. We did not test them.
