How to Set Up a LinkedIn Company Page: Eligibility, URL, Images, Admins and First Followers

To set up a LinkedIn Company Page, check that no Page or Listing Page already exists for your organisation, create the Page from a personal LinkedIn account on desktop or iOS, choose a clean public URL, complete the industry, size, overview, logo and website fields, add a second super admin, and ask employees to link their profiles. The main prerequisite is a real-name LinkedIn profile with more than one connection. This guide has seven steps. Key warning: a Page URL can be changed only once in 30 days, and LinkedIn says it cannot replace or remove admins for you.

At a Glance

  • Pages are free. LinkedIn says “You can create a LinkedIn Page for free” and that you need a LinkedIn account to do it (Create a LinkedIn Page).
  • Eligibility: your account needs “more than one connection”, must be at least a day old, and may need workplace verification (Troubleshoot creating a Page).
  • Creation works on desktop and iOS; LinkedIn says it “is not supported on Android mobile devices.”
  • Images: PNG or JPEG up to 3MB; logo 400 x 400 pixels recommended, cover 1512 x 256 (Image specifications).
  • The public URL “can't be changed more than once in a 30-day period” (Page public URL).
  • Add a second super admin: LinkedIn “can't provide Page admin information to members or replace or remove admins.”

What Is a LinkedIn Company Page?

A LinkedIn Company Page is a free organisational profile on LinkedIn, managed by admins rather than owned by one person, where a business shows its description, logo, website, locations, posts and jobs, and where employees can list it as their employer.

LinkedIn says Pages “should represent your business or school, not a LinkedIn member profile,” and warns that personal profiles set up to represent businesses “might be flagged as spam or abuse”. A Page is also one of the profiles journalists, buyers and AI systems check when they look a company up, so its facts should match your website, press boilerplate and other listings. Our guides to getting your company on Crunchbase and adding Organization schema markup cover the same consistency work elsewhere.

Time: under an hour for Steps 1 to 6 (our estimate); employee association can take 14 to 30 days. Tools: a LinkedIn account, logo and cover files, your boilerplate text. Cost: free; Premium Company Page is an optional paid subscription. Skill level: beginner.

What You Need Before Starting

  • A personal LinkedIn profile under your real first and last name, with a confirmed email address.
  • More than one LinkedIn connection, and an account at least one day old.
  • Authority to act for the organisation; LinkedIn asks you to confirm it.
  • Your official name, website URL, industry, company size and type, and headquarters address.
  • An approved company description; see how to write a company boilerplate.
  • A square logo and a wide cover image (specifications in Step 5).

Step 1: Check Eligibility and Look for an Existing Page

Search LinkedIn for your organisation before creating anything. Duplicate Pages confuse followers and employees, and LinkedIn may already have created one.

LinkedIn's best practices say: “Ensure a Page doesn't currently exist for your organization. If one already exists, you can request admin access.” LinkedIn also creates Listing Pages from “publicly available information, licensed data from third parties, and data collected via APIs”; current employees can claim one, after which its “created by LinkedIn” banner is removed (Pages and Listing Pages). Expected result: you know whether to create, claim or request access. Verify: search the company name and website domain. Common mistake: creating a new Page when an old one exists under a former employee's control; request access instead.

Step 2: Create the Page

On desktop, click the For Business icon at the top right of your LinkedIn homepage, scroll down and click Create a Company Page. Choose Company (the other options are Showcase page and Educational institution).

Enter the Page identity, company details and profile details, tick the box confirming “that you have the right to act on behalf of the company or school,” and click Create page. On iOS, the path starts from any LinkedIn Page via the More icon; Android is not supported. LinkedIn says that once the Page is created “you become the super admin of the Page.” Expected result: a live Page. Common mistake: using a fake “company” personal profile to create it. If it fails: LinkedIn's troubleshooting page lists the common errors: a Page with the same name, not enough connections, a new account (“wait at least one day”), too many Pages created in a day, a URL already in use, or an unverified workplace.

Step 3: Choose the Public URL Carefully

Pick a URL that matches your company name as closely as possible, because changing it later is restricted. All Page URLs take the form linkedin.com/company/[name].

LinkedIn's rules: the URL must contain at least one non-numeric character, cannot contain uppercase letters, may use lowercase letters, numbers, hyphens or CJK characters, and cannot include consecutive hyphens or start or end with one. LinkedIn suggests avoiding ambiguous acronyms, “use ‘/the-dream-company’ instead of ‘/tdc’”. The primary URL “can't be changed more than once in a 30-day period”; changing the Page name does not change the URL; and a released old URL can be reassigned to another Page on request, after which it stops redirecting to yours. Expected result: a stable URL you can use in your website footer and sameAs markup. Common mistake: picking a short acronym that could match another companypicking a short acronym that another company later claims you are impersonating#x27;s name, which LinkedIn advises against.

Step 4: Complete the Key Sections

Fill in every core field. LinkedIn says Pages with “logo, description, and website URL are more discoverable and potentially receive 30% more weekly views” (Complete your LinkedIn Page). That is LinkedIn's own figure, not an independent measurement.

Process: from the super admin view, click Edit page and complete Industry, Company size, Overview, Logo, Website URL and Locations (you can add several and mark the primary office). LinkedIn says it is “mandatory to complete key sections like Industry, Company size and Overview, if you would like to use the Invite to follow feature.” Use the same description and founding facts as your press boilerplate and Google Business Profile. Expected result: a complete Page. Common mistake: leaving the overview as a single slogan; write a factual summary of what the company does and for whom.

Step 5: Upload Logo and Cover Images to Specification

Use PNG or JPEG files no larger than 3MB, at LinkedIn's recommended sizes. LinkedIn recommends a high-resolution JPEG over a PNG for best results.

Minimum logo size is 268 x 268 pixels; minimum cover size equals the recommended 1512 x 256. Life tab modules require Career Pages.

LinkedIn warns that the cover “might be adjusted to fit the screen,” so keep key details away from the edges, “especially in the lower-right corner”. The logo appears on light and dark backgrounds, and a transparent logo “will be shown on a white background”, so test both. Expected result: sharp images on desktop and mobile. Common mistake: text-heavy cover images that crop badly on phones.

Step 6: Add Admins and Secure the Page

Add at least one more super admin straight away. LinkedIn's best practices say to do this “in case a super admin loses access to the Page or leaves the organization,” because “LinkedIn can't provide Page admin information to members or replace or remove admins.”

LinkedIn has three roles (admin roles permissions). Super admins can manage admins, edit all Page fields and deactivate the Page. Content admins can post, manage events and jobs, and invite connections to follow. Analysts can view and export analytics. Give agencies content admin, not super admin. Turn on two-factor authentication for every admin. Page verification, which adds a badge, is a Premium Company Page feature, according to LinkedIn's Premium Company Page help; see how to get verified on LinkedIn. Expected result: two or more super admins from the organisation. Common mistake: one founder as sole admin.

Step 7: Link Employees, Invite Followers and Post

Ask employees to set the Page as their current employer, invite your connections to follow, and publish a first post.

LinkedIn says that when you add the Page as your employer, “it might take between 14 and 30 days for you to show up as an associated employee on that Page.” Without Premium, you “can only invite 1st-degree connections to follow your Page.” Use the Share Page button in the admin view and link the Page from your website. For how posts reach people, see how LinkedIn decides who sees a post; for a regular publication from the Page, see how to create a LinkedIn newsletter. Expected result: employees listed and a first audience. Common mistake: posting only promotional links; the Page reads as inactive to visitors checking whether the company is real.

The employee-association bar is drawn at the upper end of LinkedIn's 14 to 30 day range.

How to Verify It Worked

  • Page live: the public URL loads while signed out and shows your logo, overview and website.
  • Admins: the Manage Admins page lists at least two super admins.
  • Employees: after 14 to 30 days, staff who listed the company appear as associated employees.
  • Consistent facts: name, website and description match your site and other profiles, and your site links to the Page.

What Not to Do

  • Do not run the company as a personal profile. Consequence: it may be flagged as spam or abuse. Correction: create a Page.
  • Do not create a duplicate Page. Consequence: split followers and employees. Correction: claim or request access to the existing one.
  • Do not leave one person as sole super admin. Consequence: a locked Page if they leave. Correction: add a second super admin on day one.
  • Do not change the URL casually. Consequence: a 30-day lock and a released old URL. Correction: decide before launch.
  • Do not let an agency own the Page. Consequence: loss of control. Correction: give agencies content admin roles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a LinkedIn Company Page cost anything?

No. LinkedIn says you can create a Page for free. Premium Company Page is an optional paid subscription that adds features such as verification eligibility, a custom call-to-action button and wider follower invitations.

Why can't I create a LinkedIn Page?

Common reasons in LinkedIn Help are having no more than one connection, an account under a day old, an unverified workplace, a URL already in use, too many Pages created recently, or trying on Android.

What size should a LinkedIn Page logo be?

LinkedIn recommends 400 x 400 pixels, with a minimum of 268 x 268, as a PNG or JPEG up to 3MB. The cover image should be 1512 x 256 pixels.

Can I change my LinkedIn Page URL?

Yes, but not more than once in a 30-day period. Changing the Page name does not change the URL, and your old URL can later be reassigned to another Page on request.

How long until employees appear on the Page?

LinkedIn says it might take between 14 and 30 days after someone adds the Page as their employer for them to appear as an associated employee.

What if a former employee is the only admin?

LinkedIn says it cannot provide admin information to members or replace or remove admins. Request admin access through LinkedIn, and add a second super admin as soon as you regain access.

This guide is built from the LinkedIn Help pages listed below, read on October 10, 2026. We did not create a new Page or test the iOS flow while preparing it, and LinkedIn's menus and limits change; some help pages were last updated more than a year ago. Figures such as “30% more weekly views” are LinkedIn's own claims. LinkedIn Help does not state character limits for the overview or tagline on the pages we read, so we do not give them.
