What Are the Best Alternatives to Business Wire?
The six alternatives we could verify on their own pages are PR Newswire, GlobeNewswire, ACCESS Newswire, Newswire.com, EIN Presswire and PRWeb. They fall into two groups. PR Newswire, GlobeNewswire and ACCESS Newswire sell financial and regulatory distribution as well as PR distribution, which makes them the closest substitutes for a listed company. Newswire.com, EIN Presswire and PRWeb sell published per-release packages aimed mainly at web and news-site syndication.
Two ownership facts matter when comparing. PRWeb is a Cision product: its pricing page carries a Cision US Inc. copyright and says its syndication network is “powered by PRNewswire” (PRWeb). Newswire.com lists ACCESS Newswire, Newswire and PressRelease.com as “Our Brands” in its footer (Newswire.com), so those two are sister services rather than independent rivals.
None of these services promises coverage. A wire sends your release to a distribution network; whether any outlet writes about it is the outlet's decision, as Do Press Releases Still Get Read? and where a wire release actually ends up explain.
What Does Business Wire Offer, and What Does It Cost?
Business Wire publishes a starting price of $475 for a 400-word U.S. domestic local release and quotes everything above that. Its pricing page says cost depends on “word count, geographic circuit, and any enhancements such as multimedia or translation,” and lists what every release includes: 400 words with unlimited hyperlinks, a full-color linked logo, rich-text formatting and financial tables, analytics reports, 24/7 customer service and “Expert Editorial Review.” Volume pricing is available on request (Business Wire).
Its investor relations page describes Canadian, UK and European disclosure services, calls Business Wire “A TSX-approved newswire,” and says earnings releases are posted in full across sites including Yahoo! Finance, Morningstar and The Associated Press and reach databases such as FactSet, Factiva and LexisNexis. It also claims reach to “over 92,000 media points” and “26K+” client companies; both are vendor figures with no method given (Business Wire). For the full head-to-head with its largest rival, see PR Newswire vs Business Wire.
How Do the Alternatives Compare on Price?
PRWeb has the lowest published entry price ($120), followed by EIN Presswire ($149) and Newswire.com ($399); ACCESS Newswire matches Business Wire's $475 starting figure; PR Newswire and GlobeNewswire publish no price. Pricing checked October 2026.
| Service | Published price per release | Distribution named on its own page | Regulatory or IR services on its pages |
|---|---|---|---|
| Business Wire | From $475 (400 words, U.S. local); quote above that | Yahoo! Finance, Morningstar, AP, FactSet, Factiva, LexisNexis | Yes: Canadian, UK and European disclosure; TSX-approved |
| PR Newswire | Not published; demo | “500K+ media outlets, newsrooms and influencers”; IR releases to 6,400+ sites | Yes: “full disclosure networks” for financial news |
| GlobeNewswire | Not published; demo | “more than 1,000 newslines, 158 countries and 35 languages” | Yes: EDGAR, SEDAR, XBRL, European regulatory news |
| ACCESS Newswire | $475 / $865 / $1,205; state $599; subscriptions from $920 a month | AP News, Yahoo Finance, Business Insider, Bloomberg Terminal and “500+” outlets, by tier | Describes financial, regulatory and IR distribution |

| PRWeb | $120 / $245 / $360 / $480 | Standard and up: “1200+ websites powered by PRNewswire” | None found on the pricing page |

Entry tiers are not like for like: Business Wire's price covers 400 words on a local circuit, while the others differ in word limits and named outlets. PR Newswire and GlobeNewswire are not charted because neither publishes a price. ACCESS Newswire's home page FAQ says its prices “start at $415”; its pricing page shows $475, which is the figure charted.
The chart shows that the three budget services undercut Business Wire's published starting price by $76 to $355 at entry level, but each entry tier buys a different word limit and outlet list.
What Is PR Newswire, and When Does It Fit?
PR Newswire is Cision's newswire and the closest like-for-like rival to Business Wire. Its home page claims reach to “500K+ media outlets, newsrooms and influencers worldwide” and says PRNewswire.com “delivers a minimum 2x more search visibility,” and it offers “Send a Press Release” and “Request a Demo” rather than a price list (PR Newswire). Neither figure comes with a method.
For listed companies, its investor relations page says it can “Publish news to 6,400+ financial, news and research websites” through its “full disclosure networks,” target “400,000+ investors and analysts” with Market Lists, and that its staff “manage over 40,000 IR releases per year” (PR Newswire). It fits a team that wants one vendor for distribution, IR websites and webcasts and is willing to go through a sales process. Compare it with GlobeNewswire in PR Newswire vs GlobeNewswire.
What Is GlobeNewswire, and When Does It Fit?
GlobeNewswire is Notified's newswire, and its own pages put regulatory filing at the center of the offer. It says it distributes “across more than 1,000 newslines, 158 countries and 35 languages,” and that its distribution sits within “Notified's Content OS platform” alongside monitoring and journalist outreach (GlobeNewswire).
Its regulatory page lists EDGAR Direct, which lets a company “file the wire version of your press release with the SEC on Form 8-K or 6-K” at a flat rate, EDGAR Complete for other filings such as 10-Q and 10-K, Section 16 forms, SEDAR filing and XBRL conversion. Its European Regulatory News service is described as “approved by financial regulators in the UK and France” (GlobeNewswire). No price is published. It fits a listed company that wants wire distribution and SEC filing from one vendor.
What Is ACCESS Newswire, and When Does It Fit?
ACCESS Newswire (the service writers know as Accesswire; its site is accessnewswire.com) is the only alternative here that publishes prices for national and financial-grade tiers. Its per-release page lists Budget at $475, National at $865 (adding Yahoo! Finance, AP and broker terminals) and US Premium at $1,205 (adding Business Insider and specialty circuits), plus a $599 state tier marked “Not for regulatory distro.” Every plan includes “unlimited word count, hyperlinks, graphics, and multimedia,” 3-packs save 5% and 5-packs save 10%, and “Single releases must be used within 60 days of purchase; pack bundles must be used within 12 months” (ACCESS Newswire).
It also sells subscriptions: ACCESS PR Budget at $920 a month, National at $1,150 and Premium at $1,525, each with one release a month, a media database, monitoring and pitch credits; quarterly billing saves 10% and annual 20% (ACCESS Newswire). Its home page FAQ says prices “start at $415,” which does not match the $475 on its pricing page; we suggest relying on the pricing page and confirming at checkout (ACCESS Newswire). It fits a company that wants a published price for national distribution, or PR software and a wire on one bill. Its pages describe “compliance-grade” handling for earnings and disclosures but do not name the filings it supports, so ask.
What Is Newswire.com, and When Does It Fit?
Newswire.com sells three national tiers and a state tier at flat per-release prices that “cover unlimited words and images.” Starter is $399, “Published to Digital Journal and Online News & Media,” with an “Estimated reach: 6–10 million monthly readers.” Basic is $659, “Distributed to AP News, Digital Journal, and more,” at an estimated 75 to 100 million. Feature is $965 and “Includes AP News, Yahoo, Nexstar, and major outlets,” at an estimated 150 to 200 million. The State Distribution tier is $599 and is marked “Not for regulatory distro” (Newswire.com).
The reach numbers are the vendor's estimates of partner outlets' monthly readers, not views of your release. Because Newswire.com and ACCESS Newswire are sister brands, compare their tiers side by side before buying either. Newswire.com fits a private company that wants named-outlet syndication at a published price.
What Is EIN Presswire, and When Does It Fit?
EIN Presswire has the lowest bundle prices we read. Basic is $149 for one release with a 700-word limit; Pro+ is “$499 for 5 releases” at 1,000 words, with a sixth release free as a “limited-time offer”; Corporate is “$999 for 15 releases” at 2,500 words, or $66.60 each. “Press releases may be issued within 1 year from the date of purchase.” Every package lists distribution to “AP News, Nexstar Media Group and the USA TODAY Network,” plus Bloomberg Terminals, Google News and “AI/LLM platforms” (EIN Presswire).
It fits a small company that issues releases often and does not need regulatory distribution, which its pricing page does not mention. For a closer look against a traditional wire, see EIN Presswire vs PR Newswire.
What Is PRWeb, and When Does It Fit?
PRWeb is Cision's lower-cost online release service, priced in four tiers. Basic is $120 “per news release” with unlimited media assets and keyword tagging; Standard is $245 and adds “Syndication to our network of 1200+ websites powered by PRNewswire”; Advanced is $360 and adds email distribution to “ONE of our industry-curated journalist lists” and proofreading; Premium is $480 and adds “Distribution to Sovrn's content recommended network.” Turnaround is 48 hours for Basic and Standard and 24 hours for Advanced and Premium (PRWeb).
It fits a company that wants the cheapest entry point and an online-visibility product, not a disclosure wire. Its pricing page does not describe regulatory distribution.
Where Is Business Wire Still the Better Choice?
Business Wire is still the stronger choice for a listed company that needs documented disclosure across several markets and wants a published starting price. On its own pages it is the only service here that combines a public price with Canadian, UK and European disclosure services and a TSX-approved status, plus editorial review and financial tables in every release (Business Wire; Business Wire). GlobeNewswire's published SEC filing services are the most specific match, but it publishes no price.
The budget services are cheaper, but none of their pricing pages describes regulatory distribution, and two mark their state tiers “Not for regulatory distro.” Whether any product satisfies the disclosure rule that applies to your company is a question to put to the vendor in writing. This is not legal advice.
Which Alternative Should You Choose?
These are our recommendations, not vendor statements.
- SEC filing alongside distribution: GlobeNewswire, which lists EDGAR, SEDAR and XBRL services.
- One vendor for IR websites, webcasts and distribution: PR Newswire or ACCESS Newswire, both of which describe IR products.
- Published price for national distribution: ACCESS Newswire National ($865) or Newswire.com Basic ($659).
- Frequent, low-cost releases: EIN Presswire bundles, used within a year.
- Lowest entry price: PRWeb Basic ($120).

Sources and Methodology
This guide is built from each vendor's own pricing, distribution and investor relations pages, read on October 19, 2026; several pages blocked automated readers and were read in a standard browser. All reach, outlet and client counts are vendor claims without published methods. The entry-price comparison is house analysis and not like for like, because tiers differ in word limits and outlets. Where a vendor's pages disagree (ACCESS Newswire's $415 and $475), both figures are given. Recommendations are ours, not vendor statements. We did not buy or test any service, and nothing here is legal advice on disclosure obligations.
